Do you want to work as a New Zealand Registered Nurse? If you are already degree qualified and your registration is recognised by your country's Nursing Council, you can apply for the one year hands-on Graduate Diploma in Nursing in New Zealand. This ground-breaking Programme aims to prepare internationally-qualified nurses for the reality of nursing practice in New Zealand and registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ).

The Graduate Diploma includes the NCNZ approved Short Course in Competency Assessment Programme (CAP) specifically written for international, degree qualified Registered Nurses. It is designed to prepare you for work in a range of health practice settings in New Zealand. These include hospitals, mental health centres, primary healthcare organisations and agencies as well as Iwi-based health initiatives.

Successful completion of this qualification will lead to New Zealand Nursing Registration and more work opportunities as a Registered Nurse with no conditions on your scope of practice.
Entry and enrolment requirements
PART A:
Internationally educated, qualified registered nurses wishing to enrol in the Graduate Diploma in Nursing in New Zealand, with the embedded Competency Assessment Programme, must meet the following Nursing Council of New Zealand requirements, and provide the following evidence:
1. Bachelor Degree in nursing
2. English language: IELTS/OET
3. Completed NCNZ application form with valid statutory declaration
4. Transcript of nursing training and qualification gained
5. Evidence of registration
6. References: two professional and one character
7. Curriculum vitae
8. Employment letter with hours worked
9. Post-registration nursing practice
10. Police check
11. NCNZ application fee
 Bachelor Degree in nursing
Successful completion of a nursing programme that is, in the Nursing Council’s opinion, equivalent to a three year bachelor degree programme in nursing and at level 7 on the New Zealand Qualification’s Framework.
 English language: IELTS/OET
Minimum entry requirement is: an IELTS score (Academic) of 7.0 in each band; or OET A or B grade in all bands.


The English Language Assessment must be less than two years old at the time of application. The IELTS score does not need to be achieved in a single sitting, but the score of 7.0 in each band, or OET A or B grade in all bands, must be achieved within 12 months of first sitting the test.
