CAHSU was founded in 1996. The University is located
in Belize City , Belize
(formerly known as British Honduras ). Belize is a
politically stable, Commonwealth country with English as the official language.
The country has easy access to the United States ,
Central and South America and Mexico
CASHU is a medical school with curriculum patterned
after US medical programs. The University is chartered by the Government of
Belize and is approved by the Ministry of Education.
- CASHU is listed in the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland
- CASHU is recognised by the Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) for students to sit for the USMLE and to facilitate admission into a residency program in the USA on graduation
- CASHU is also recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC) of the UK which allows students to sit on the PLAB and facilitate admission into a residency program in the UK
- Students from India are eligible to sit for MCI on completion of the program
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) at CASHU is a 5 Year (11
Semesters) US Pattern Syllabus program. Successful completion of the program
pathways the graduate to enter the workforce in many countries as a Registered
Doctor, pursue Post Graduate studies in USA with a paid stipend – refer details

Maths/Physics/Chemistry/Biology) – 50% Pass mark

academic study must have been in English medium

On successful completion of the whole
curriculum and satisfactorily meeting all the other requirements, students will
be conferred with a MD (Doctor of Medicine) Degree.
Medical Program:
Study of the human body and
its structure as well as the coordination of its major systems. Lectures,
conferences and laboratory exercises form a substantial part of the course of
study
The curriculum is
continuously evaluated and revised by the Medical Education Committee in order
to keep abreast with the latest advances including those related to health
promotion and management
Basic Science Curriculum – Belize (20 Months)*
- Offers an in-depth program of the basic
medical sciences.
- Presents the range of problems encountered by
doctors and the range of solutions that have been developed for their
recognition, investigation, prevention and treatment.
- Covers the principles of disease, therapy,
ethical and legal issues relevant to the practice of medicine.

Clinical Medical Sciences
Curriculum (2 Years – Years 3 & 4 – USA, Belize, Mexico, Nepal or UK)
- Presents the opportunity to record a history,
perform a physical examination and interpret the findings.
- Teaches the students to act independently
correlating the clinical relevance to the basic sciences.

CAHSU
Guarantees a Clinical Rotation spot for all students. There is a Hospital Fee
payable for the clinical rotation depending on the country –

- US$ 50/week, Mexico US$ 150/week, UK US$ 250/week (Part time work permitted
in UK to offset the Hospital Fee). USA Fee on application and depending on

IMPORTANT STUDENT INFORMATION:
MCI Eligibility Certificate:
After receiving the
CAHSU Letter of Acceptance, the student can apply for the MCI Eligibility
Certificate - Cost Rs. 1,100/-
On completion of the MD
program the student must clear the MCI Screening Test in India – Coaching is
available for this Test – 5/6 months coaching at cost Rs. 36,000/- (Hyderabad/New
Delhi)
USMLE Coaching:
After the first 20
months study in Belize, the student has a 4 month break before commencing the 2
year Clinical Rotation
During this 4 month
period the student can undertake USMLE Step 1 coaching at cost Rs. 60,000/-
(Hyderabad)
During the 2 year
Clinical Rotation the student can study for USMLE Step 2 (online)
USMLE Step 1 & 2:
The Belize curriculum
is modelled on the US syllabus which provides students a distinct advantage in
preparing for USMLE
The student can sit the
USMLE exams during their clinical rotation
If the student clears
USMLE with 90% + pass mark then they have the following advantages:
1. They do not have to complete the final year
internship in Belize
2. They can enter the PG program in USA with a
minimum stipend of US$ 40,000 and no tuition fees
3. They are not required to sit the MCI
Screening Test to practice in India
Passing USMLE clears
the pathway for the graduating student to practice medicine in most countries,
including the developed countries
