Differentiate between studying abroad & Studying in Home Country !

What is the difference between studying in a foreign country & home country?

Why should one study abroad when the same can be done here?

These are the basic doubts most of the students have in their mind when they think about their higher studies. Through this blog I am trying to help these young enthusiasts to ease out the decision making.

I would like to point out some differences in studying abroad & studying Localy . Along with his I will be inviting leaders in Education Industry to contribute their views on the topic , plus they will be providing highlights of  Institutes / Countries they represent . These leaders represent both national  & international Universities & colleges.

Study Locally.

  1. Less expensive . Expenses like Visa, Forex, High fee, Air ticket etc can be saved when you study locally. Also a student can save a lot in terms of Food & Accommodation when they study locally.
  2. Less Fees. Fees will be less for local students than for International students. Most of the International Unis / Colleges charge almost double the tuition fee from International students. Other expenses like admin fee, Insurance etc will also be there
  3.  Non availability of wide range of courses. Availability of courses are a big issue when it comes to study locally. It is simple, not any country can provide avenue for all the courses available in the world. So if the desired course is not available in ones country , that student will have to look out for options abroad.
  4. Job Opportunity. Locals students get more preference for local jobs. Some countries prefer  students with local qualification over abroad qualifications for certain jobs or jobs in Govt Sector.
  5. Limited seats. Most local colleges / Unis have limited seats & his will force students to opt for abroad studies where seats are available.

Study Abroad.

  1.  International Exposure. Experience new cultures. Interact with people from different back ground. Experience a different way of life, and experiencing the way other peoples do things is generally a positive, enhancing experience.
  2. Broadens ones mind. Exploring new civilization & cultures enlighten the student.
  3. Encourages & Nurtures Independence. Teaches money management.
  4. Cultural Shock. A student will feel like an alien in new country , especially when there is no way to get support & strength.
  5. Better Job Opportunities. Studying abroad opens up different venues for jobs , be it in international job market or local job market.
  6. Specialization. Scope of getting a desirable course is much more when you plan to study abroad as there are many countries & Universities available for choosing appropriate course.
  7. Improves communication skills.  Interaction with different nationalities will help a students to gain knowledge, confidence & better communication skills.
  8. Scholarships. Many countries offer Scholarships up to 100% to attract bright minds to their country. This will help a student support the study.
  9. Experience arts. A student can visit historical monuments & experience art of another country by studying abroad.
  10. Net work. The student will get a chance to widen ones network which is essential for any career.
  11. Overall personal growth.
  12. Longer stay for greater benefits. Most countries help students to become a PR after the student stays longer time in the country.
